Problem or Opportunity ?

This week in the Garden I noticed a lot of snail damage. I realized that last year at this time we have had 2 hard frosts that had killed all the snails and slugs. Also the fence has been successful at keeping the peacocks out. (Chickens , ducks , geese and peacocks are great organic controls for snails). At my farm in Homestead I don't have a snail problem either because of all the toads. That left me with an opportunity for a learning experience . After a little research online I found that Iron Phosphate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron(III)_phosphate is a good and safe Organic control for snails and slugs . ( Before I buy or use anything I look for the "OMRI" label) ... The Garden looks great , check the salad bar this week !!

Progress report

Great progress in the garden this week, Alberto and Marcos finished the new irrigation system that uses a separate well from the golf course . The flowers are really starting to bloom and all the vegetables have doubled in size. The tomato plants have bloomed and some even have fruit ! And I counted 12 butterflies today
